Bootham Green, York
Designed by Walter Henry Brierley and erected in 1890, Shipton Street School is a fine example of the work of this renowned York Architect. The buildings were in use as a school for approximately 100 Years, but following this were mothballed and allowed to fall into a state of dilapidation.
Our designs have brought these listed buildings back into use as homes, with sensitive preservation where possible and the achievement of an ‘Eco-Homes’ rating. We sought to maximise the opportunity for this brownfield site to contribute towards much needed housing, and ensure the commercial viability of the scheme. New build townhouses and flats were incorporated into the proposals with a sensitive response to the Grade II listed buildings.
